Kim P. Petersen MD, CMD is certified in Geriatrics and has practiced Geriatrics for 18 years. He also is a Certified Medical Director by the American Medical Directors Association and has functioned as a Medical Director in long-term care and assisted living for 25 years. In addition, he was President of the Wisconsin Association of Medical Directors. He also directed the Memory Diagnostic Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dr. Kim Petersen provides medical-legal consultation for attorneys on cases involving persons with dementia as well as medical issues in long-term care. Dr. Petersen has provided consultation and testimony for both plaintive and defense attorneys.
Medical-legal services:
- Review of medical records to determine the merit of a case
- Review of medical records for determination of standards of care
- Review of records and depositions for determination of competency and capacity
- Provide a deposition
- Testify in court
- Assess problems related to behavior in persons with dementia, including medication issues, injury to self or others, appropriateness of discharge
- Review care issues in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and retirement communities
